Black Fluid: Poetry for Social Justice

In this gathering, hosted by Eastern Michigan University professor Dr. Toni Pressley-Sanon, we will work with the poetry of Black Social Justice Movements from the distant past to the contemporary moment. Our exploration of the deployment of the written word in the service of freedom will involve reading others' writings before seeing what it's like to feel the words in our bodies. Finally, we'll use the energy we generate to express our own desires for freedom on the page. Get ready for a morning of exploration, embodiment, and creating possibilities.
